The SCHEMA Group based in Nuremberg first developed SCHEMA ST4 in 1995 and the software has continued to grow and evolve since then. This content management system is now in use in more than 350 installations worldwide.
SCHEMA ST4 is not designed for any specific industry and its extensive standard functionalities mean it is more than capable of meeting most demands made on it. SCHEMA ST4 is equally at home in the world of manufacturing systems engineering, plant engineering and special purpose machinery manufacture with requirements for version or PIM/data management. It can also be used in the area of consumer goods with demanding requirements for translation diversity and layout design, or in software and hardware documentation. Alongside this, very specific challenges such as traceability and document version management, for example in the life sciences, can be successfully met with SCHEMA ST4. The adaptability and scalability of the system means other sector-specific or customer-specific customizations can be implemented at any time.
Our customers successfully use SCHEMA ST4 in industries such as manufacturing systems engineering, plant engineering and special purpose machinery manufacture, medical technology, the pharmaceutical industry, automotive, electronics, specialist printers, the IT industry (software, hardware) and many more. We are happy to provide reference contacts and organize telephone calls, visits and events. We actively encourage our customers to share information and experiences.
The extensive standard functionalities, for example in relation to data management and layout design, mean that SCHEMA ST4 is being rolled out to more and more departments within companies. Interdepartmental content can be created and utilized – a further step towards optimum knowledge management:
Technical Documentation, Marketing, Service, Training, Product Management, Quality Management, Standardization, Manufacturing/Production, Sales, and many others
End Documents or Files
Content is stored in a media-neutral way allowing it to be output in any format; documents can be precisely put together for different application areas and target groups via the managed reuse of nodes.
Examples of Created Documents and Files:
Operating instructions, plant documentation, patient information, manuals, service manuals, installation and repair manuals, spare parts documentation, catalogs, data sheets, price lists, help systems, software documentation, context-sensitive help, online help systems, websites, training or sales presentations, tender documentation, specifications, test reports, risk assessments, user information, work instructions, contract and quotation management and much more.
Licenses and Clients
SCHEMA ST4 DocuManager is available in several versions. BasicLine is an entry-level solution for up to five simultaneous users, specifically designed for use in small and medium-sized enterprises. The Standard Edition for up to 15 simultaneous users is suitable for the vast majority of businesses and application areas. The Enterprise Edition is available for larger-scale enterprises. SCHEMA ST4 DocuWeb also provides the option of web access. This has been designed specifically for ad hoc external employees, who may be involved during the approval phase for instance.
Individual information modules that are as easy as possible to manage form the basis of modern editing. These modules need to be easy to find, capable of being combined dynamically, and made “intelligent” using metadata. Separating layout, structure, and content simplifies matters by a large degree and increases efficiency. However, this requires precise planning and consistent implementation.
SCHEMA has been setting standards in editing systems for over 20 years. Their ST4 DocuManager meets the needs of small and medium-sized businesses and is based on SCHEMA ST4, the market-leading professional and scalable editing system in German-speaking countries. The SCHEMA product range covers all eventualities in day-to-day editing and content management work for companies of all sizes.
The fundamental difference between working with and without an editing system is the principle of single source publishing. This method breaks documents and publications down into information modules, which may then be used time and again in different locations, but are only ever managed centrally. Prolific copying and pasting is replaced by a neatly structured data base.
SCHEMA ST4 DocuManager sets new standards, and is yet a standard system with technical support and upgradeability. SCHEMA consistently “standardizes” recurring requirements from numerous projects. “DocuManager” is a standard configuration of the powerful ST4 system; a turnkey solution for simple projects and the perfect basis for complex enhancements.
Technical content management systems should not simply be regarded as new software; they also enable you to reassess processes, writing methods, and documentation structures. While they are relatively quick and easy to introduce, a major benefit lies in how they will modernize your entire workflow. Here we have compiled some of the key benefits to justify your investment.
Separating content, structure, and layout in a CMS is the key to first-class dynamic publishing: Create different layouts from or customer-specific versions from the same source – cleverly controlled by metadata, with documents automatically produced from the data available in the ERP system. With all this and much more besides, the possibilities of SCHEMA ST4 are endless!
When it comes to creating and scaling first-rate content, seven of the ten most well-known brands around the world rely on Acrolinx. Use Acrolinx to plan, create, and analyze your content. Tailored to your target groups, it will be quick to find, easy to read, and engaging. Acrolinx is the only software platform that can “read” content and helps authors to improve it and find the right “tone of voice”.
The trend towards electronic media could not be stronger, with benefits such as faster updates, interactive presentations, and context-sensitive help being harnessed for applications such as website assembly and catalog production. SCHEMA ST4 offers an extensive range of publication options for both print but also electronic media, separating content from structure and layout.
Your colleagues, partners, and customers need the latest information at their fingertips. How do you manage that in times of increasingly faster product cycles? How do you ensure these documents can only be used with proper authorization? SCHEMA´s Content Delivery Suite (CDS) intelligently supplies the different target systems – online and offline – via browser, tablet, or smartphone.
